About Me

I’m a 33-year old living in  Melbourne, Australia. I live with my two canine best friends, who rock my world, and my husband, who is also a huge animal-lover. I have always loved animals and felt a deep connection with them, particularly dogs. But stories of dogs languishing in pounds and shelters break my heart. I felt it was time I contributed, even in a small way, to helping these animals. I am hoping this website would be a source of information for those of you thinking of adopting a dog, facing challenges with your current dog or just after some interesting stories about dogs.   I would love to hear stories /see pictures about your dogs. Here’s to happy puppies everywhere…

Would love to hear from you.  Contact me on:

  1. Am so happy you have such a big heart to help the dogs who are just helpless creatures on their own. I never loved dogs unfortunately until I met my husband who has a deep love for them and this changed my attitude towards dogs. I connect better to them and they respond to me better as they are so intelligent animals. If you can help them in anyway I fully approve….I am happy that i could develop my love towards them through my husband….took some time i can tell you for me to love Max and Smoky and Shadow….A photo of Shadow still shines in my son’s room and when I see him in the nicely framed pic, it tingles my feelings as am not sure where he is having left my country 9 years ago….

    • I think sometimes loving an animal is as good for the human as it is for the animal. I have found that my love for my dogs has helped me through many painful moments and brought me immeasurable peace. I have worked in hospitals where the therapy dog is the thing the patients look forward to all day. It’s a beautiful thing to witness. I am glad your husband was able to open your heart up to dogs; I never fully trust a man unless he’s an animal-lover 🙂

  2. I have a rescue greyhound and walk the hounds at the local kennels once a week. If you’d like to know more or see photos of Amy, click greyhound on my blog’s tag cloud. Enjoyed your dog walking post – you can definitely learn from dogs how to be in the moment!

    • Thank you, you’re my first visitor from Scotland (I’ve been there and loved the hospitality of the Scots). I am just exploring your blog, it’s great! You don’t understand how obsessed I am with greyhounds. I never had one, have only seen a few, and just have a fascination with them. Their faces just ‘speak’ to me. Is that weird? Anyway will go and check out photos of Amy now 🙂

  3. Well of course *I* don’t think it’s weird, I think it’s obviously the right way to feel about greyhounds 😉 They are elegant creatures. Now I’ve met loads of them, I can say some have more lovely, gentle faces than others though: like people, some are just more expressive and open looking. Thanks for your kind words about my blog.

  4. …and Scotland! I’ve never made it out of Europe yet, I confess 😦

  5. (ps – no need to ‘post’ this comment – but you might want to put a ‘follow’ button on your blog so it’s more easy/obvious for people to do – go to dashboard, appearances, widgets and play around! Took me a good while to get to grips with it all and I’m still learning)

  6. Yes, you’re absolutely right – just mentioned it, as the little automatic one on the black bar at the top corner was hard to spot on my e-reader – I can see it easier on the computer. But lots of blogs have an additional one under their gravatar in the side bar (see mine on my Home Page, though it’s not the best example – some folks’ blogs are beautifully designed) – you can add the larger button, picture etc through Appearances/Widgets quite easily if you decide you want to 🙂

  7. bwahaha silly me – I just found your big button! It *is* down at the bottom of I think ten posts. I’ve not seen this format before – are you using one of the new responsive width themes?
Ah well, you can delete all my ‘helpful’ waffle now 😉

  8. So glad I found your blog…I was ‘liking’ all of your posts, so thought I’d just follow! They’re all wonderful. See you around!

    • Thank you, you made my day! I’m constantly amazed at how supportive fellow bloggers are. Have just checked out your blog which looks awesome and I’m following you too. I started this blog because I was so disheartened by animal cruelty, and to see the love that fellow bloggers have for dogs has really lifted my spirits and made me believe again that people are essentially good.

      • You’re welcome! Now thank you! I’ve been amazed by the WordPress community’s welcome too – in fact I wrote a whole post about it 😉 Looking forward to following along with you!
